Have an affair they said, your identity will be safe with us they said. Well, not anymore. Hackers have stolen millions of users’ private information from the world’s leading dating site for people who wants to have an affair. The data that has been stolen may include names and credit card information, sexually explicit chat logs and photos.

Their business model is morally debatable and a group of hackers called Impact Team have taken it upon themselves to do something about it.

The main target is ashleymadison.com, founded in 2001, which has over 37 million users around the world. The website’s slogan is ”Life is short. Have an affair.” Another site that has been targeted is                                                         Source: https://www.ashleymadison.com/ establishedmen.com, owned by the same company as Ashley Madison called Avid Life Media. Establishedmen.com connects wealthy men with young and beautiful woman.

Impact Team has blackmailed Avid Life Media into shutting down both websites.

“Avid Life Media, has been instructed to take Ashley Madison and Established Men offline permanently in all forms,” Impact Team wrote in a statement released last Sunday. If ALM doesn’t comply, ”we will release all customer records, including profiles with all the customers’ secret sexual fantasies and matching credit card transactions, real names and addresses, and employee documents and emails.”

To show they mean business, the hackers have released selected data from the sites.
